When the bad times come

  For the past couple of months, I have been slowly reading through the book of Psalm (some parts are definitely easier to read than others). But just the same as when I read through Paul's letters last year, I have tried to find the key themes throughout the book… There are a few that I have found so far in these first 44 chapters, but I think that there are 2 that are the most prominent. The first one is living through hard times. The majority of the chapters that I have read so far are written by David, and consist of him constantly being hated by His enemies, having a downcast soul, crying throughout the night, and simply having a hurting heart… His writing expresses his weeping, mourning, and begging of God for deliverance from the trouble that he is finding himself in… In his hurting, he asks God some really tough questions, like in chapter 10, “Why do you hide yourself from me?”, or in 13 when he asks, “How long must I take counsel in my soul and have sorrow in my heart all ...
