I Can’t Fathom it.
David is great in the Bible. This greatness however, does not derive from His unlikely defeat of the giant, or his vast armies and kingship. David’s greatness is not even because of his fancied possessions or wealth. David is great because he trusted God. In 1 Chronicles 17, the Lord spoke through the Prophet Nathan to David. (8-15) He told him that God is with him. He said that his lineage will be made great. That He will appoint him, plant him, protect him. He promised David His provision, confirmation, and His Fatherly love. He said to David that He promised that he would be in the House of the Lord at the end of his life and that David would dwell in the Kingdom of the Lord forever. David can’t fathom it. (16) The words that are spoken through the prophet can’t reach the comprehension of David’s mind. But despite the lack of his flesh’s understanding, his heart rejoices.
