Spiritual High Forever

If you have ever been to a Christian camp, a worship concert, a powerful bible study, a mission trip, or an amazing convention or conference (like SMC !!!!!), then you know that a spiritual high could not be more real… if you have never gotten to experience a spiritual high, it is basically the feeling of being unstoppable! You leave your camp or concert or convention feeling like every part of you is absolutely consumed by the Spirit, and that you have been made new and refreshed. It is probably one of the most amazing feelings that someone could ever experience!

This is because when the Spirit moves, it affects the hearts of His people. When our God does amazing things, we get to reap the benefits of it… So when you go to a place where a couple, a hundred, or even thousands of people are seeking the heart and face of Jesus, He is present. And when the Holy Spirit is present in a place, it’s undeniable and life-changing.

But as amazing as spiritual highs are, sadly, it often ends… a lot of the time people will come home from a long summer camp feeling free and forgiven, but then a couple months or even weeks later, return back to the sin that was making them feel like a slave… People will come from a conference and hear speakers tell them how they are redeemed and made pure through Christ, and believe it for a few days after, but then stop reminding themselves of it, and start believing the lies of this world that says they are “dirty”... Or they will leave a mission trip, come home, and break up with that abusive boyfriend, but forget their worthiness after a month and get back with them…

See because when the Holy Spirit is present and reveals himself to you at a believer gathering, the evil one wants you to forget it. He doesn’t want you to remember the spiritual high… He wants you to fall back to what was hindering you. Because when you are on fire for the Kingdom, it scares him. It actually terrifies him… so he wants to do everything he can to tear you down (John 10:10).

But what if I told you that you could experience a spiritual high, every day?

We need to take a step back as followers of Christ, and ask ourselves why we leave these places and feel like we could change the world? Why do we leave these places and feel the Spirit in us like never before?

And the answer is simple… Because at these places we are doing life in exact accordance with the Kingdom.

The Bible tells us in Matthew 18:20 that “For when two or three gather in my name, there I am with them.” So of course we can’t deny His presence at these places.

The Bible also tells us in Jeremiah 29:13 that “you will seek me and find me when you seek me with your WHOLE heart.” And isn’t that what we are doing when we actively seek Him out at a conference, Christian camp, mission trip, or even bible study?... In those couple days of camp or one night of a Christian concert, you are seeking Him in those moments with your WHOLE heart.

And just as the word says all these things, it is also written in Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is LIVING and ACTIVE, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” And isn’t this how we feel after going to a gathering solely based on the word of God? We feel the active and living word of God moving in our hearts and minds… We feel the heart-piercing truth of salvation that comes from the study of His word and exposing the intentions of our hearts...

And just in case you need more proof of the prophesied feeling of a spiritual high from these events, it is also written in John 4:23-24 “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is Spirit, and His worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

And don’t we worship Him at these things?? Whether you are on a mission trip serving children, at a conference listening to David Marvin, or actually at a concert vocalizing a Hillsong album, YOU ARE BRINGING HIM PRAISE! You are praising Him through your actions… and for that, as the scripture says, He SEEKS you out!

So I write all these things to say this:

We CAN in fact experience a spiritual high every day.

Everyday FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT. Fight for your spiritual high.

Yes I know, “life gets busy” and you “don’t have time to read your Bible” but just as JP said so boldly at the SMC conference, “you are too busy NOT to read your bible.”

Don't let your spiritual high die off.

I promise you, as someone who has experienced spiritual highs, and the crashing of them too, that when you seek out the Lord with your whole heart, You WILL find Him. Don’t let the life that was meant to be lived for the Father, get in the way of doing exactly that.

We all have ONE purpose, and He has assigned us to live it out in so many different ways. So I encourage you, if you got to experience a spiritual high over the break (shoutout to my SMC people), don’t let that go!

This life is a vapor, how are you going to choose to live it? With the ways of the world? Or on fire for the Kingdom?
